GOBO – TV – Film – Photography
a) Small piece of metal used to deflect unwanted light from causing a FLARE on a camera lens. See FLAG.
b) Name for special form of pattern that can be placed like a filter in front of a film light to create an effect or project a name e.g. some Odeon cinemas use a light with a gobo to project their name into the entrance foyer.
c) In a TV studio a gobo is part of the set that allows a camera access to shoot through it, such as a window.
