Also known as IEEE 1394. Trade name for a sophisticated cable that allows digital moving images to be input directly from a compatible video camera to a computer, for editing or storage. Transmits data at the fast rate of 400 Mb per second. Mainly used to input the DV family of video recording into computer editing software. See DV and PREMIERE, VIDEO EDITING
