ESTABLISHING SHOT – TV – Film
A scene setting shot that establishes the location, and possibly time and season in which the subsequent scene, or sequence, or even the whole film, will take place. E.g. The opening shot in a Bond movie might be an aerial shot establishing a city or country in which the opening action that sets up the film will take place.
