Refers to a fast internet connection with permanent access. To send good quality video and multimedia material reliably along the Internet you need a connection that is faster than the average 56k home modem. Known as broadband this includes ADSL, and cable and satellite connections that are up to 10 times the speed of an ordinary modem and have always-on functionality, for a monthly subscription. Allows video on demand, teleconferencing and interactive multimedia functions.
