ANAMORPHIC – TV – Film

Literally means a distorted image that when viewed correctly returns to normal. On a TV camera an anamorphic lens is used to squeeze or compress a WIDESCREEN (16:9) image into a standard 4:3 format. For transmission this is unsqueezed to show the original WIDESCREEN (16:9) format. Broadcasting companies require programmes to be made in widescreen and a standard camera can be converted by using an anamorphic lens adapter. Check it is a true 16:9 conversion lens.
