ANALOGUE

A representation in electrical values of something that is a physical quantity.  For example a singer sings into a MICROPHONE. The microphone converts the changes in air pressure created by sound waves from the singer into electrical signals. The continuously variable sound waves are directly represented with corresponding electrical values by an AC voltage from the microphone. There is a direct relationship between the pattern of the sound waves, and the electrical pattern. The recorded electrical signals are analogous to the singer’s sound vibrations. All pictures and sound were recorded by analogue systems until the advent of DIGITAL recording.
