For some lessons access to the internet is essential/works best for that lesson’s objectives and teaching point and may require that you book your department/faculty/centre’s computer room. I always offer alternative ways of completing the work in the lesson or provide samples/examples on the Slide Resource if this is not possible. In such cases I suggest that the internet access tasks are set as home learning.

Some lessons also lend themselves to being divided into more than one session. Where this is possible/desirable is indicated in this Teacher Guide. You will, of course, have a much greater understanding of the needs, capacities, pace of your students and make these decisions where you feel most appropriate to their needs.

Lesson 1: The Paper 2 Section A Set Products

  • Knowledge: To develop ideas about the OCR Set Products
  • Learning: To build ideas of study of media products by applying acquired skills
  • Understanding: To develop understanding by analysis of set products examples

Starter/Loop Activity (5 minutes)

Prepare the Learning (5 minutes)

Share the objectives. Remind students of the objectives we are working towards meeting, and that this unit is designed to help them prepare for the two papers of the examination and their NEA. All skills and strategies are transferable.

Construct the Learning (25 minutes)

Slide 12 sets out the structure of the Edusites strategy and where the unit sits in this.

Slides 13 - 16 review their knowledge of the set products and how the Paper 2 Section A products are to be studied. Take time to go over the requirements and the strategies required by the exam board in responding to the set products in this section. Stress that the purpose in these lessons is guidance and strategies to enable them to start to apply...
