Lesson 1

Developing ideas about Media Language - Slides 1-22

Objectives:

Knowledge              : To develop ideas about the EDUQAS set products

Learning                 : To build ideas of study of media products by applying skills acquired

Understanding       : To develop understanding by analysis of the set products

Starter/Loop Activity (5 minutes)

  • Resource Pack Slide 3: Task 1A Pupils asked to consider the task from the Lesson Resource: Persil 1960s advertisement.

Prepare the Learning (5 minutes)

  • Share the objectives. Remind students of the objectives we are working towards meeting. This unit is designed to help them prepare for the two papers of the examination. All skills and strategies are transferable.
  • Go over responses to the Loop activity. Tease out the points relevant to today’s learning – media examinations.

Construct the Learning (20 minutes)

  • Slide 4-11. Focus of the unit. Discuss the outline of the examination – the nature of the products to be studied and the manner in which they will be examined. Stress that the purpose in these lessons is guidance and strategies that can enable them to start to apply their already acquired learning and understanding…
