OCR G324: Advanced Portfolio in Media

Brief 2

A Promotion Package for a New Film to include a Teaser Trailer, a Film Magazine Front Cover featuring the film and a Poster for the film.

GENRE: British Social Realism (genre boundaries may be hybridised to reflect real media conventions).

  • Planning and Research Portfolio (20 marks)
  • Production Portfolio – 2 x Ancillary (10 marks each) and Main Task (40 marks)
  • Evaluation (20 marks)
  • Main Task: Film and Edit a Treaser Trailer for a New British Social Realist Film
  • Ancillary Task 1: Design a New Independent Film Magazine Front Cover featuring and promoting the film
  • Ancillary Task 2: Design a Film Poster promoting the film

G324 is a coursework module that suggests the student will be able to evidence ‘distance travelled’ in terms of skills development from G321, Foundation Portfolio in Media. The work completed in both G321 and G324 will be evaluated in Section A of the G325 Critical Perspectives in Media exam, Theoretical Evaluation of Production making the projects wholly integrated in terms of internal and external assessment in understanding the concepts of media theory into industry practice.

Two or more media must be evidenced in the portfolio and this brief combines film (video) and print. Production work may be in the same medium as AS work as the Ancillary Tasks will ensure a different medium is also explored. Production work and

presentation

of research, planning and evaluation may be completed in groups (maximum of 4) or individually but “centres will still assess candidates on an individual basis for their contribution to aspects of the work, from planning, research and production to evaluation? (OCR Specification).

This means every student must develop their own Research and Planning an Evaluation Portfolios and in terms of the production work (if in groups) must demonstrate a specific, measurable individual...
