Welcome to the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Studies. You will be learning about and how to use a range of software and hardware in media sectors for jobs ranging from Games Designer, Audio Engineer and Web Editor to Production Assistant, Animator or even Production Manager.

In the 21st century with digital media moving so quickly it’s important to be multi-skilled. A thorough knowledge of hardware and software is essential across different platforms in different media sectors. Here are some links to organisations who can give you more information and help you in your journey into the world of interactive media:

  • Creative Skillset (good for careers and working practices)
  • Creative Choices (articles, advice and resources on interactive media careers)
  • All About Careers (useful for explaining job roles)

This qualification is known as a V Cert and will allow you to progress onto any level three qualification e.g. the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Interactive Media and from there a range of university courses.

This is a technical qualification that allows you to learn practical skills and this particular unit is mandatory (you have to take it). It is portfolio based and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

You will have to undertake the following, which will be assessed:

  • Read and understand the interactive design brief (below) and then undertake primary and secondary research - a Research File will be your evidence (1.1)
  • Develop and explain a range of ideas and solutions to fulfil the brief including software and hardware requirements - a Website will be your final design idea and evidence (1.2, 1.3)
  • After feedback, select one (the website) and present your ideas showing flow and process - your visual communication will be the evidence. Use PowerPoint, Prezi or other suitable software and record the presentation. (1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7)
