it is highly recommended that it is delivered before assignments 2 and 3 in year 1 of a 2 year GCSE. Towards the end of term 1 of AQA GCSE Media Studies if taught over 1 year would be appropriate. THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT ONLY.

The consumption of media texts by different audiences should be considered and understanding will be demonstrated through a pre production activity. One assignment will be chosen from AQA’s Assignment Bank 1 that involves two tasks – a 500-700 word (see alternatives below)

Both tasks below are connected (same medium) – EXAMPLE TASKS:

1. Analyse the 2012 Lynx ‘Chaos Island’ Television Advert and also the 2012 Phones4U ‘Missing Our Deals Will Haunt You’ (Little Girl) TV Advert. How effective are they in selling their products?

2. Design Your Own Advertisement for a Product Targeted at a Specific Audience - Submit Your Ideas as a Ten-Frame Storyboard.


  • Analyse and Respond – MEDIUM/INFORMAL SUPERVISION (10 Marks)
  • Research, Plan and Present: LOW/LIMITED SUPERVISON (5 Marks)

Recommended Timescales

  • Task 1 – 4 weeks (10 hours), Task 2 – 2 weeks (5 hours).
