Unit 9 Exploring Photography and Digital Imaging

AO1 Develop basic specific skills to use in text/visual based and audio/audio visual products

Students should take 12 different photographs for THREE different purposes. I would focus on things the students would find the easiest.

  1. To provide a portrait (they can each get each other to take photos of themselves and pretend they are the latest music artist from the “X-Factor”!)
  2. To show a crime scene (they can use examples of graffiti on walls or anything they feel is relevant to suit a crime scene).
  3. For an exhibition of some type (jewellery or mobile phones for instance).

They take four different shots for these three different purposes and should use different angles and different positions to get the best types of shots here. They should aim for long shots; close ups, mid shots as well as high or low angle types of shots and use the SLRs cameras to alter the shutter speed to create different types of shots.

They may want to use a filter or a different lens size and this should be encouraged as this will allow them to provide the evidence for a Distinction.

AO2 Develop basic transferable skills to use in text/visual based and audio/audiovisual products

Transfer these images to the computer and then print out screen shots with annotations underneath to explain the effect of the shots and what they did to get that type of shot. Some...
