Television Production

The Brief | Concept

You work for a small UK Television Production company and are being set various tasks by TV industry to see if you will be hired to help plan a new television programme.
The work you do will involve investigating the changing television industry in the UK. You will need to explain the popularity of different genres of television programmes in the UK market and plan for a new television programme. You will need to present and evaluate ideas for this new television programme as well.

By completing this unit, you will have the knowledge and understanding the rapidly changing UK television industry and the context in which it operates. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the content and conventions of a range of fictional and factual television productions. They will be able to explain the popularity of certain programmes, applying theoretical concepts relating to genre, narrative and representation. Candidates will have an understanding of the production process and be able to generate their own ideas and effectively plan for a new television programme.
