OCR A2 G324 Advanced Portfolio in Media Scheme

A Suggested Scheme of Work

Term 1

13 – 15 Weeks
This is a coursework unit.

Intro

From the OCR brief, candidates are asked produce two items:

1.  a media portfolio, main and ancillary texts based on one of the briefs;

2. a presentation of their research, planning and evaluation in electronic format.

The media portfolio has to be MIXED MEDIA through a combination of two or more:

  • Video
  • Print
  • Web-based
  • Audio
  • Games software

The presentation of the research, planning and evaluation may take the form of any one, or combination of two or more, of:

  • a presentation using slideshow software such as PowerPoint;
  • a blog or website;
  • a podcast - (some teachers think that this format Is not liked by OCR and marked down, so best to avoid at present)
  • a DVD with ‘extras’.

Teachers should choose one of these briefs which can be achieved with the available kit.

Basically the briefs are:

1. a music promo + print or website

2. a promo for a film including a video trailer + print/website

3. a multi-media advertising package

4. a promo for a computer game + TV ads

5. a promo for new TV soap + print

6. the title sequence of a new children’s TV drama + print

7. an extract from a new documentary + other media

8. the first two pages of a new local newspaper + other

9. a website for a new TV channel

10. a short five minute film - live action...
